Low powder rate, small spraying area and high heavy metal content have plagued the powder coating industry. In view of the above requirements, Yufeng powder material Co., Ltd. organized the Ministry of chemical industry and the machinery department after years of joint research and development to produce high light calcium carbonate and calcic calcium carbonate for powder coating. The desire of "two high and one low" powder coatings (that is, high powder rate, high spraying area and low heavy metal content) has come true and is of epoch-making significance.
Sometimes semi gloss or matte powder coatings are used. In order to reduce the gloss of coatings, the commonly used matting agents include ultrafine silica, talcum powder, aluminum stearate, calcium stearate, and low molecular thermoplastic resin. To get the effect of extinction, the following methods can be adopted:
A, the powder coating with different curing speed was mixed with dry mixing method, and the gloss of the obtained film decreased obviously and played a role of extinction.
Due to the rapid solidification of the powder coatings with high reactivity, the slow curing resin of the continuous phase is blocked and the reaction is hindered, so the final curing film loses its luster. Although this method is effective, it increases manufacturing processes and costs.
B, adding thermoplastic resin.
With the addition of cellulose acetate in the epoxy powder coating, the fine powder low molecular weight polyethylene and polypropylene resin can be added to the powder coating. The gloss of the film is influenced by the manufacturing conditions. Because the addition of thermoplastic resin will affect the storage stability of powder coatings, the addition amount is limited to 2 - 3% of the resin content.
C, with a special curing agent with the effect of extinction.
D, adding fillers with extinction.
The gloss decreased significantly by adding superfine silicon dioxide and talcum powder. In particular, the particle size of the filler has great influence on the gloss of the film. The larger the granularity, the lower the gloss. It should be noted that increasing the amount of filler will reduce the flatness and mechanical strength of the film. In the epoxy powder coatings, the effect of calcium carbonate size on the gloss of the film is shown in table. In the acrylic and polyester powder coatings, superfine silica and kaolin can be used to obtain matting paint. In addition, addition of wax, such as polyethylene wax and hydrogenated castor oil, can also get matting paint.
